~ Dr. Allen Unruh's Response to Senator
Reid ~
By Dr. Allen Unruh
I'm glad Senator Reid compared health care reform to the slavery issue. Why?
Because the opposite of what he said is true and I have heard no such response
from the Republicans or conservative talk shows. What does the 13th amendment
to the Constitution say about slavery? It says, "Neither slavery nor involuntary
servitude, except as punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been
duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject
to their jurisdiction."
When a doctor is told by government bureaucrats what services he can and
cannot provide against his better judgement - THAT'S INVOLUNTARY SERVITUDE.
. When a doctor takes an oath to "first do no harm" but is told to harm a
patient with denied necessary care - THAT'S INVOLUNTARY SERVITUDE. When the
value of a doctor's services are pre-determined by government bureaucrats,
and not based on free markets, or the value of his knowledge and experience
- THAT'S INVOLUNTARY SERVITUDE. The government is in essence stealing the
intellectual property of health care professionals, under threat of 6 figure
fines and imprisonment if they don't comply with government's cookbook guidelines
which are mainly adopted for cost containment and to match global budgets.
If doctors are told they have to kill human life against their conscience
and taxpayers' income is used to fund the destruction of human life, that's
INVOLUNTARY SERVITUDE.
When formularies are developed in Washington DC dictating the value of every
diagnosis, and symptom and therapeutic procedure - THAT'S INVOLUNTARY SERVITUDE.
Bureaucrats know the price of everything and the value of nothing. You value
your life much more than bureaucrats. However, if doctors are slaves of the
state that means their patients are wards of the state. Your health care
will be determined by global budgets. There will be zero incentive for doctors
to improve their service or do research or utilize new technology to help
patients with chronic pain. In fact, in the bill, cost shifting allowing
doctors to provide care patients want and need has caps even if patients
spend their own money for services they want. That's INVOLUNTARY SERVITUDE.
In essence: OUR FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT WANTS TO INSTITUTIONALIZE SLAVERY FOR
AMERICA on a much larger scale than we had 100 years ago. Let the debate
over who is a slave to who begin.
The dictionary defines a slave as someone entirely under the domination of
some influence or person. The government is adding 36 million more people
to a medicare system. Medicare has $38 TRILLION un unfunded mandates and
will be broke in 7 years. Medicare, medicaid and social security have $107
TRILLION in unfunded mandates. This doesn't count the $2.5 trillion CBO estimates
that is admitted by Democratic leadership. It's impossible to accurate predict
estimates as no government program has ever come in under budget. Medicare
cost 7 times projected estimates. Medicaid is 15 times more than projected
estimates. In two years baby boomers will be retiring at 11,000/day with
their hand out. Twenty five percent of doctors won't treat medicare patients
because it pays below market value.
A higher percent won't treat medicaid. Doctors who can afford it will quit
and many more will go broke. When you have half the doctors with four times
the patients - this will lead to slavery of proportions nobody has ever dreamed
in this generation. In essence it will lead to HELL CARE not health care.
There's always free cheese in a mousetrap. The constitution forbids slavery.
There's no place in the constitution that allows the government to control
the health care of patients. Who will pay for all this? The Rich - with what?
It is estimated to cost 5.5 million jobs decreasing the tax base for the
government. And this doesn't account for the hyper-inflation and devaluation
of the dollar in the coming months.
Americans must pay any price and bear any burden to preserve freedom. This
health care bill is a trojan horse. It will be the last nail in the coffin
of capitalism. Capitalism is the unequal distribution of blessings. Socialism
is the equal distribution of misery. In every country with government health
care, it immediately becomes the #1 item on every national budget. The first
lesson in economics is: "There are never enough resources to meet everyone's
desires." The first lesson in politics is to "ignore the first lesson in
economics." The sky will not fall if health care isn't passed this week like
liberals say. A true metaphor is: "The Titanic is sinking and the liberals
want the country to hurry up and get on board because it will be too late
next month." It's time we send out some life boats. Because all Americans
are in the same boat. And there's one principle about a boat: YOU CAN'T SINK
HALF OF IT.'
We either live in FREEDOM OR SERVITUDE. There is no in between. Socialism
and capitalism cannot co-exist.
